I'm Pumudi Hasula Gardiyawasam, the founder of 'Illustratorpooh'. I was born and raised in Sri Lanka. I'm a self taught children's book illustrator. I'm originally a Zoology Graduate from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and I shifted my career as a children's book illustrator in 2019. Since then I illustrated over 30 books in two different styles. Illustratorpooh is my current style which was developed in mid 2021 and I have completed five books from this new style and there are a few ongoing projects as well. It was really an interesting journey so far and the best period of my life. I am now proudly represented by Astound US.

I was passionate about both art and nature since my childhood and always fascinated by nature since I was a kid. That eventually lead me to pursue my higher studies in Zoology and graduated with a BSc degree. But I never lost my passion for art. Later in life, I changed my career as a full-time children's book illustrator to combine my inborn art talents with what I learned in the university and, hoping to educate young children about nature and it's importance through art and eventually lead younger generation towards making a better world for all the living beings.

As a nature enthusiast, I would love to illustrate colorful drawings with detailed backgrounds with full of plants, flowers and life. I also love to illustrate scenes with magical ambiences. My style looks more child friendly and I believe it entirely developed around the relationship I'm having with nature.

Apart from drawing, I love experimental cooking, hiking, camping, reading books and watching movies with my husband.
